Maps, weather, location data and queries share one monthly usage balance. Different operations use different amounts based on processing and data requirements. How usage works ↓
How usage works
Every plan includes a monthly balance of usage units. Maps, search, weather and Location Data all draw on it — most calls cost 1 unit, heavier ones a little more.
- Monthly usage
- Your plan's units for the billing period. Shown live in your dashboard and in every API response (X-Orvia-Quota-Remaining).
- Rate limits
- Calls per minute — protection for everyone's traffic, separate from your monthly units.
- Data limits
- How many collections and stored features your Location Data can hold.
When the units run out
API calls pause with HTTP 429 until your next period starts — upgrading restores them immediately. Paid overage isn't available yet; your dashboard warns you before you get close.
The Map Explorer is free to use on every plan; the API calls it makes count toward your units like any other.
